How I Lost My Splatoon Pre-Order from GAME

In my past experience, pre-ordering is a good way to guarantee you’ll get an item; sometimes even before the launch date if you’re lucky. It ensures that you’ll never miss out and won’t have to get up at the crack of dawn on release day to go and queue up for x item.

Dear Mark,

We regret to inform you that the lorry transporting the Splatoon stock from Nintendo’s European warehouse to GAME UK has been stolen. Included in this delivery was our allocation of the Splatoon + Squid Inkling amiibo. As a result, we are unable to honour your original pre-order due for delivery on the 29th May 2015.

Due to these extraordinary circumstances, we will unfortunately not be getting replacements for these missing items. We have no option but to substitute the Splatoon + Squid Inkling in your order with the standard version of the game. You will still receive your Inkling Girl and Inkling Boy amiibo. We will be discounting this edition by £10 from £52.99 to £42.99 to apologise for this inconvenience. We will also be sending your order by First Class post on Friday 29th May, as we want to make sure that you are happy with this substitution.

If you wish to cancel your complete order, or cancel your Splatoon game order and place an order for just the Inkling Girl or Boy amiibo (priced £14.99 each), please contact customer services on 0208 827 0099 or email us at customer.services@game.co.uk by midday Friday. If you wish to accept this substitution you do not need to contact us.

We apologise for the inconvenience.

The GAME Team

splatoon-hat-promo-gameCrazy right? If they were gonna make a prequel to the Ocean’s 13 trilogy, this wild story would probably win several Oscars. Whilst I’m still incredibly skeptical as to whether or not this is even true, at least GAME offered something in return and even threw in the promo squid hat upon delivery as a gesture of goodwill. Granted, I had to then order the entire box-set again to get the Squid Amiibo from GameStop UK (who then also cancelled my pre-order, finally seeing me pick it up from Smyths Toys…), but now I own two copies of Splatoon. Is this really what somebody who pre-orders a game months in advance should endure?

Either way, I’m just glad this ordeal is over and I finally have Splatoon and all three Amiibos. But GAME should be wary: using the excuse “my Grandad died” to skip P.E. lessons only has a one time use, so please bear that mind when you try and claim that your third Grandad has tragically passed away too.
