Hey all, just thought I’d start writing a sort of random thoughts kind of thing on here every now and then… today, it’s time to discuss what I’ve learned as a gaming YouTube over 2 years!
Anyway, I thought I’d kinda give you guys my thoughts on what it’s like trying to get anywhere on YouTube as a total nobody who doesn’t have tons of cool successful YouTuber friends (or any friends for that matter). I hope it might help people thinking of starting their own gaming channel or just give you guys a bit of an insight in keeping the channel alive (I mean, I don’t intend on giving it up anytime soon, but I want the channel to grow, not die!!)
1. Gaming is a brutal niche to have a YouTube channel.
I should have probably known this before I started, but it’s so competitive, you’re lucky if you have near 100 subscribers. Seriously! Let’s say I want more subs (which I always do, please subscribe thanks) so I play a brand new game that people will be searching for. Regardless of how amazing your video is, someone
Thanks to all our amazing fans who helped us get to 2000 subscribers yesterday!
We started our channel in March this year just for fun and we never thought that we’d get to 2000 subscribers so fast! We hope that we can one day make YouTube our full-time jobs, so thanks for all your support so far.
If you watch our videos, you’ll probably know that we’re in Amsterdam at the moment! However, if you missed it yesterday, here’s a special 2000 subscriber video for you guys just to say thanks for sticking with us!
How long do you think it’ll take us to get to 10k subscribers?! Leave us a comment below letting us know your guess and we’ll see who’s closest! We’re off to eat more delicious Dutch cakes!
So Chibi-Robo! will soon make a triumphant return to Nintendo consoles with a brand new 3DS game: Chibi-Robo! Zip Lash. Fortunately for us, that means a brand new Amiibo to get our hands on!
It’s currently available as a single Amiibo or within the limited edition box with the game. For those of you just looking to expand your Amiibo collection, I thought it was pretty awesome that you could simply pre-order Chibi-Robo! on its own, but we’re gonna be picking up the game too! Click the images for links to the Amazon pre-order:
Will you be picking up a copy of Chibi-Robo! Zip Lash? If so, make sure you let us know what you think of it on Twitter and Facebook! We’ll more than likely be unboxing the 3DS box on our channel so make sure you subscribe so you don’t miss it! Click here to visit Colchester Tattoo.
Nobody was sure whether or not the rumours of a Shovel Knight Amiibo were true or not… but it’s certainly hard to deny now that you can pre-order it on Amazon!
This epic addition to your collection can be used with the captivating 8-bit retro game by Yacht Club Games, who licenced the Amiibo technology directly from Nintendo. It’ll be released in the UK on the 27th of November. Click the images below to pre-order them.
Are you getting this Amiibo? Would you like to see more third-party Amiibo in production from other game developers? Do you wanna see us play Shovel Knight over on our YouTube channel? Let us know in the comments below!
If you related to our last post, then chances are you’ll be interested in picking up the latest Wave 5 Amiibo! We can’t wait to get our hands on Mii Smash Brawler, Gunner, Sword Fighter, Duck Hunt Duo, Mr Game & Watch and R.O.B!
The UK pre-order goes live today, the 28th of August at 10am (BST), with the all of the Amiibo actually being released on September 25th. We personally can’t wait to see how these look in Yoshi’s Woolly World! You can pre-order all of them below from Amazon, are pretty good when it comes to shipping without damaging the packaging! If you can’t see the Amazon ad’s below because of AdBlock, then just click the photos of each Amiibo at the bottom of this post for links.
Which one is your favourite? We love the Duck Hunt Duo the most as that dog is just pure amazing! We’ll of course be unboxing all of these over on our YouTube channel and we can’t wait to get our hands on them! Now all that’s left is to wait for the Shovel Knight and Mega Yarn Yoshi Amiibo!
The hunt for Amiibo is often long and harsh out there in the wilderness. We’ve had pre-orders cancelled, arrive damaged or just plain never arrive. It’s not that uncommon to see us order a wave from 2-3 different places, just to make sure we get any at all!
Therefore, it’s not surprising that we often have doubles of new Amiibo waves, which were essentially our back-ups just in case we got screwed over again. But that’s where we can finally thank you guys for all the love you’ve shown us on YouTube lately!
Over on our Facebook page, we’re gonna be running a competition to give away Olimar, Bowser Jr. & Dr. Mario totally for free! All you have to do is like our post and share it to enter. The rest is down to RNG-esus!

In my past experience, pre-ordering is a good way to guarantee you’ll get an item; sometimes even before the launch date if you’re lucky. It ensures that you’ll never miss out and won’t have to get up at the crack of dawn on release day to go and queue up for x item.
However, for the first time ever, that wasn’t the case. Having pre-ordered the game with Squid Amiibo from UK retailer GAME several months in advance, a few days before Splatoon‘s release I received this e-mail:
We regret to inform you that the lorry transporting the Splatoon stock from Nintendo’s European warehouse to GAME UK has been stolen. Included in this delivery was our allocation of the Splatoon + Squid Inkling amiibo. As a result, we are unable to honour your original pre-order due for delivery on the 29th May 2015.
Due to these extraordinary circumstances, we will unfortunately not be getting replacements for these missing items. We have no option but to substitute the Splatoon + Squid Inkling in your order with the standard version of the game. You will still receive your
